  • Design and implement experiments

  • Perform experiments using flow cytometry, ELISA, RT-PCR, cloning, sequencing, mice

  • Maintain a project-relevant mouse colony (weaning, breeding, and crosses).

  • Analyze and interpret data and prepare data for publication in peer-reviewed journals and for presentation at scientific meetings.

  • Review, develop and implement new or modified laboratory techniques required for research projects

  • Trouble-shoot and problem-solve research work

  • Keep a detailed laboratory notebook, accurately collecting records of experiments.

  • Participate and present in lab meetings

  • Conduct literature searches

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in Immunology/Microbiology or equivalent experience

The position is in the laboratory of Dr. Roberta Pelanda in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology. The research focus of the Pelanda laboratory is to uncover and target mechanisms that regulate the development of autoreactive B cells health and autoimmune diseases using both primary human tissue and mouse models. The Research Associate will develop a project aimed at investigating the contribution of chemokine and integrin receptors to central B cell tolerance and the impact of central B cell tolerance on peripheral tolerance and autoimmune responses. The Research Associate will be a skilled and competent scientist capable of planning and carrying out experiments that address the scientific aims of the project and to analyze and organize data for scientific presentations and publications. The Department of Immunology and Microbiology encompasses a broad range of research and teaching activities focused on basic mechanisms of host immune responses, viral and bacterial pathogenesis, and the intersection of these two fields. The starting salary range () for this position has been established as $65,000 - $85,000 The above salary range () represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
