Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1295000 and is part of the CO FMS 9, National Guard. The purpose of this position is to provide overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions. Responsibilities Planning: Plans on a quarterly or longer basis, the overall use of subordinate personnel and resources under their control. Work Direction: Assigns and explains work requirements and operating instructions to subordinate supervisors, sets deadlines, and establishes the sequence of work operations to be followed. Administrative: Assures that subordinate supervisors effectively carry out policies to achieve management objectives. Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E-8 thru O-3 or W-1 thru W-5 1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. 2. Experience diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. 2. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. 3. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. 4. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems. 5. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. 6. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. 7. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. 8. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. 9. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Education Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.
