Resideo Sr Advanced Firmware Engineer in Aurora, Illinois

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Advanced Firmware Engineer with expertise in IoT cloud integration and strong proficiency in IoT system and data modeling. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of IoT systems for cloud-based applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable IoT solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Lead and actively contribute to all product development activities, including investigation, design, coding, and testing.

  • Design and develop features in embedded applications, specifically focusing on IoT device communication with Cloud.

  • Create reusable components to significantly reduce device firmware development time.

  • Develop and optimize IoT system architectures for scalability, performance, and reliability, considering factors such as data volume, velocity, variety, and veracity.

  • Conduct system-level testing and validation of IoT solutions, analyzing performance metrics and addressing any issues or deficiencies through iterative refinement and optimization.

  • Drive innovation in IoT technology through research, experimentation, and evaluation of emerging technologies and industry trends.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • 7+ years of experience in FreeRTOS or Embedded Linux development.

  • 7+ years of experience with C++.

  • Strong understanding of Unit-Testing and Test Driven Development.

  • Experience with IoT protocols and standards such as MQTT, Matter, and ProtoBuff.

  • Experience working in Agile Scrum Teams.

  • Knowledge of IoT security best practices and protocols for securing IoT devices, data, and communications.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and optimize performance for scalability and reliability.

WE VALUE:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Relevant experience in home automation products and residential market

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • The typical base salary for this role, ranges from USD $135,999 to $236,601 per year but varies by specific work location. Within a range, Resideo determines base pay for an individual based on various factors, including market conditions, skills, and experience.

  • Work in a Hybrid setting (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

  • Enjoy work-life balance with generous vacation time that can be scheduled with manager approval based on business priorities and personal needs, without pre-set maximums.
