What You Will Be Doing:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microsoft SQL Senior Database Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing SQL Server databases, a strong background in Microsoft Azure, and knowledge of Power BI administration. This role involves ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our databases, as well as planning and implementing data platform resources.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Plan and implement data platform resources, including Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
Implement and manage the operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions built on SQL Server and Azure SQL services.
Monitor, configure, and optimize database resources to ensure optimal performance.
Implement a secure environment, including database backup and recovery strategies.
Evaluate and implement migration strategies for moving databases between Azure and on-premises environments.
Collaborate with Azure data engineers, Azure solution architects, Azure developers, data scientists, and other professionals to manage operational aspects of data platform solutions.
Provide support in the event of problems related to the operating systems and software.
Ensure daily backup and develop recovery strategies.
Administer and manage Power BI environments, including user access, security, and performance tuning.
Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in database management and cloud services.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner
Additional duties as assigned by manager
Who We Are Looking For:
To be successful in this position you should have an in-depth knowledge of SQL server, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines. You should have a strong understanding of database security best practices and excellent problem-solving skills. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential to this position as well.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in database administration, with a focus on SQL Server and Azure SQL services.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
In-depth knowledge of SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
Experience with Transact-SQL (T-SQL) and other tools for administrative management purposes.
Strong understanding of database security best practices.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
Experience with database monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) environments.
Experience with automation of tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell.
Knowledge of Power BI administration, including user access management, security, and performance tuning.
