Emerson BU Financial Controller in Austin, Texas

This role is instrumental in crafting the financial health and strategic direction of our Transportation Business Unit. Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Serve as Finance Business Partner for the Transportation Business Unit, collaborating with leadership to develop and implement business plans and operating initiatives.

  • Support the planning and execution of the long-term BU strategy, driving cross-functional alignment through the annual strategy sessions, multi-year strategic plan, and operational reviews.

  • Develop and coordinate the financial planning process, including the quarterly forecast POR and annual budget.

  • Improve decision making and P&L predictability through Forecasting for Bookings, Revenue, Gross Margin, Operating Expenses, Headcount, and Capex.

  • Prepare timely reporting for period financials as guided within the finance calendar, perform variance analysis, and assist the business with optimizing spend.

  • Monitor financial performance and identify trends to provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies, strictly adhering to all regulatory requirements.

  • Lead initiatives to streamline processes and improve financial reporting systems for flawless execution.

  • Mentor and develop junior finance team members, nurturing a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

To be successful in this role, candidates must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA qualification is preferred.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, with a focus on financial planning and analysis.

  • Outstanding analytical skills and a proven ability to interpret complex financial data.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated capability to drive critical initiatives and achieve successful implementation of business plans.

  • Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting techniques.

  • Advanced knowledge of financial software and tools, including ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.

  • A strong attention to detail and an unwavering dedication to delivering world-class financial reporting and analysis.
