TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Budget Analyst (Hybrid) in Austin, Texas

WHO YOU ARE: Budget professional who performs budget preparation and analysis work. Work Involves the planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating of budgetary activities and performance measures. You possess strong multi-tasking and organization skills. You are a critical thinker who will collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: The Budget Analyst IV oversees the preparation of budgetary and management reports. Oversees the development and evaluation of performance and workload measures. Analyzes expenditure patterns and makes recommendations on the use of funds. Exercises advanced knowledge of financial systems such as PeopleSoft, Access, Excel, TIPS, CATS, CAPPS, WRAPS, Texas Centralized Accounting, Payroll/Personnel System, and other IT systems. Performs advanced (senior-level) budget preparation and analysis work. May supervise the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: -Compile, review and analyze queries and data, reports, translates and presents findings. -Ensure accuracy and timeliness of submission of the strategic plan, legislative appropriations requests, fiscal notes, analysis of legislation and requests for federal funding. -Coordinate the preparation of budgets to provide management with expenditure data, trends, and recommendations. -Inform management of budget deviations, problems, and events likely to affect operations; explains causes; and measures effect on the agencys mission and resources. -Prepare and/or coordinates the preparation of operating budgets. -May supervise others. -Perform related work as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH: -Four years of full-time experience in budget preparation, accounting, auditing, financial planning or management, or positions which provided knowledge of public sector budgetary controls, administrative procedures, and related state and federal regulatory laws.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: -Knowledge of Legal restrictions governing allocation of funds, accounting, budgetary, and management principles, practices and procedures. -Skill in analyzing financial data, computer operations and using applicable computer software. -Ability to analyze fiscal management information to determine appropriate use of funds. -Ability to perform statistical analyses. -Ability to identify and develop budgetary reports and schedules. -Ability to analyze management problems and develop and present solutions. -Ability to communicate effectively.
