Job Description

Omni Hotels & Resorts is seeking Chef de Cuisine for Blind Salamander for the beautiful new Barton Creek Resort & Spa! If you love hospitality, creating amazing customer experiences, and the structure and benefits that come from working with a hotel company then you will love working with Omni!

As the Chef de Cuisine at Blind Salamander Kitchen & Bar, you will be the creative and operational head of our kitchen, overseeing the preparation and presentation of our modern cuisine, inspired by local and sustainable ingredients. This role demands innovation, passion for food, and a commitment to exceptional culinary experiences.

Pay: 75,000 year. The pay scale provided is a range that Omni Hotels & Resorts reasonably expects to pay. Actual compensation offered may fluctuate based on a candidate’s qualifications and/or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all kitchen operations ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

  • Develop menu offerings, anticipate seasonal changes, and react to customer preferences and feedback.

  • Manage food purchasing, inventory levels, and kitchen equipment maintenance.

  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and the sharing of ideas for menu development

  • Participates in training staff on menu items including ingredients, preparation methods and unique tastes.

  • Operates and maintains all department equipment and reports malfunctions.

  • Purchases appropriate supplies and manages inventories according to budget.

  • Reviews staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met.

  • Work closely with the management team to align kitchen operations with the overall goals of the restaurant.

  • Trains associates in safety procedures and supervises their ability to follow loss prevention policies to prevent accidents and control costs.

  • Sets a positive example for guest relations.

Qualifications

  • Candidate is required to have at least 2 years previous culinary management experience in a high volume, full service Four Diamond Kitchen.

  • Candidate must have proven culinary skills and must be able to lead, develop, and motivate staff.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as organizational skills.

  • Candidate must be creative and up to speed on new concepts and food trends.

  • Computer literacy required.

  • Must have basic mathematical skills and be able to create and understand financial reports.

  • Able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.

  • College education and/or culinary degree preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work on feet for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
