The Opportunity

The Director of Account Opening Strategy is a key member of the Fraud Prevention team who uses their business acumen, technical skills, and customer focus to support new and emerging fraud prevention opportunities. They are relied on as a subject matter expert in fraud capabilities, with a specific focus on account opening controls. This role will be accountable for helping to ensure the business can effectively mitigate fraud risk in an ever changing and evolving environment. Additionally, this role will be accountable for driving the fraud strategic initiatives to optimize the account opening process for Ally Bank and Ally Invest, inclusive of enhancing customer experience, mitigation and ownership of fraud losses related to account opening, and working with key stakeholders.

Ally work location options are Charlotte NC, Lewisville TX, Fort Washington PA

The Work Itself

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships internally and externally, including vendors, stakeholders and partners
  • Monitoring strategies to prevent, detect and minimize fraud losses with a focus on proactive controls
  • Identifying risk trends through deep understanding of fraud trends and drivers of loss in the account opening space
  • Iteratively delivering solutions to develop towards target state.
  • Leveraging existing technology to improve the account opening process through balancing risk and customer experience
  • Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the account opening process and implement improvements based on data-driven insights
  • Conducting market research to stay ahead of fraud trends and vendor offerings
  • Actively participate in industry forums
  • Collaborating on business cases and presenting recommendations to senior leaders for funding or approval
  • Development of procedures, training and communications for the Fraud Operations team as needed related to strategy driven initiatives
  • Driving business requirements for comprehensive delivery of Account Opening initiatives

The Skills You Bring

  • 7+ years of fraud related retail banking or Invest experience required
  • 5+ years in financial services industry with a proven history of driving fraud strategy in the Account Opening and/or Deposits Space
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to derive actionable insights from data
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Proven track record of delivering fraud technology and strategy solutions
  • Knowledge of banking regulations, fraud taxonomy, and payment methods, risks and fraud trends
  • Knowledge of Investment industry preferred

Base Pay Range:

Emerging: 125000

Experienced: 157500

Expert: 190000

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
