Acquires all necessary resources to ensure the timely delivery or orders. Evaluates order details and finishing requirements and monitors progress. Develop schedules, assign work to staff and verify its completion to customer standards. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Communicates and interacts with internal customers and print staff to plan, schedule, and monitor the activities related to print production and bindery. 2. Evaluates daily workload and available resources to assign activities to other staff that will achieve a successful outcome for all requests. 3. Meets with staff to communicate customer expectations and answers questions regarding process and timeline. 4. Oversees, advices, evaluates, and trains print and bindery staff. Working in a collaborative manner to achieve continual process improvement. 5. Evaluates the overall quality of product output to verify that it meets the quality standards for the agency. 6. Consults and advises on best practices for print production projects. Acts as a SME, suggesting changes based on desired outcomes and recommending additional resources when needed. 7. Maintains all business records related to print production and bindery. Including inventory and billing records, shipping documents as well as maintenance records. 8. Periodically communicates with outside service providers on technical specifications, material availability and production timeline on Department orders. 9. Attends work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies. 10. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: Education Associates Degree (or related certificate) from an accredited college or university with a major in Print Production Technology or related field. Experience Minimum of five (5) years experience performing print production in which three (3) years are in a supervisory role. Two (2) years experience in direct customer service, preferably in a custom manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of common print manufacturing processes including electronic file creation and digital printing techniques. Substitution Note: One (1) additional year of the described work experience can substitute for the required post-High School training. Licensure and/or Certification If driving is required, must possess a valid drive license from state of residence. Regulatory knowledge Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures. Supervisory/Managerial/Leadership skills Knowledge of management and supervisory methods and principles, performance and productivity standards, and fiscal/budget management. Able to develop plans, policies, and procedures for efficient workflow and overall effectiveness, and provide clear direction to subordinates; promote teamwork and be able to motivate others to accomplish goals. Interpersonal Skills Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers. Organizational and Prioritization Skills Must be organized, flexible, and able to effectively prioritize in a multi-demand and constantly changing environment; able to meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, timeliness or professionalism. Presentation/Communication Skills Must be able to construct and deliver clear, concise, and professional presentations to a variety of audiences and/or individuals. Research and Comprehension Must demonstrate ability to quickly and efficiently access relevant information, and be able to utilize and/or present research and conclusions in a clear and concise manner. Analytical Reasoning/Attention to Detail Must demonstrate an ability to examine data/information, discern variations/similarities, and be able identify trends, relationships and causal factors, as well as grasp issues, draw accurate conclusions, and solve problems. Technology (computers/hardware/software/operating systems) Adobe Creative Cloud and Acrobat Pro experience preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems and be able to learn new software/systems. Confidentiality and Protected Information Must demonstrate an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information and situations, and adhere to applicable laws/statutes/policies related to access, maintenance and dissemination of information. Safety Must be able to work in safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices. Travel and/or Schedule Availability for after-hour and weekend work is required.
