The General Service Technician I is responsible for performing routine tasks related to the upkeep and repair of a building’s basic systems and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:

General Maintenance:  Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing door handles, ceiling tiles, carpet squares, flush valves, unclogging drains, adjust cabinet hardware, patch small drywall holes, install ceramic tiles, operate a boom lift (training required), and assist with any projects as needed etc.

Routine Inspections:  Conduct regular inspections of the building, including common areas, restrooms, and exterior spaces, to identify any maintenance needs or safety issues.

Assisting with Repairs:  Support more experienced technicians or contractors with larger repair projects by providing assistance or gathering necessary tools and materials.

Reporting Issues:  Identify and report any minor or major issues to supervisors, ensuring that problems are addressed promptly and effectively.

Vendor Escorting : Support vendors and subcontractors while on-site performing services

Skills & Qualifications:

Basic Repair Skills:  Ability to use hand tools and perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.

Attention to Detail:  Awareness of potential safety hazards and the ability to notice small issues before they become major problems.

Communication:  Basic verbal communication skills to interact with supervisors, team members, and building occupants.

Physical Ability:  Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, bending, and working on ladders, and ability to lift to 50 pounds

Willingness to Learn:  Openness to training and development in more complex maintenance tasks.

Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to varying temperatures and occasional physical labor.

Regular lifting, standing, and bending are required.

May require travel to different locations, often within a designated service area.

Some jobs may require weekend or evening availability for emergency repairs.

Experience:

No specific experience is required, though previous experience in maintenance work or a related field is beneficial.
