UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN Graduate Program Administrator, Department of Biomedical Engineering in Austin, Texas

Program Administration. Under limited supervision, assists faculty Graduate Program Advisor in developing, implementing, administering and evaluating graduate student support activities for the Biomedical Engineering PhD and Masters programs. Assists program faculty in the administration of the BSBME/MSE Integrated Program, and the MD/MSE Dual-Degree Program and Clinical Innovation and Design Distinction with Dell Medical School. Serves as the graduate program liaison to the Cockrell School of Engineering and the Graduate School. Serves as the staff ex-officio member of the Graduate Studies Committee Executive Committee to advise on student affairs and implement decisions of the committee. Assists program faculty in the administration of the Imaging Science Fellowship. Exercises high levels of discretion and judgment in interpreting and implementing program, school, and University policies. Reviews graduate program budgets and makes decisions on appropriate expenditures. Establishes priorities to meet critical deadlines and short- and long-term strategic goals.Student Support Activities. Serves as the primary point of contact for students to provide practical solutions to complex issues throughout the student life cycle. Counsels and mentors students and program faculty in areas such as recruitment, admission, academics, progress toward degree, completion rates, professional development, employment, and administrative functions, as well as personal counseling on topics such as financial aid, employment, housing, transportation and insurance. Coordinates fellowships and awards from internal and external funding sources. Supports one First Year Interest Group (FIG). Assists the advising office with course management duties, such as FaSET, final exams, course-instructor surveys, grade reporting, and textbooks. Recruitment and Admissions. Develops, implements, administers and evaluates recruitment and admissions strategies and activities, including annual recruitment events. Develops and administers information sessions, panels, and other activities to increase the volume of the applicant pool. Serves as program representative at national conferences and as the primary point of contact for prospective students. Serves as the staff ex-officio member of the Admissions Committee.Committees and Professional Development. In addition to departmental committees, may serve on university policy-making committees related to graduate education. May serve as a mentor or leader in the Graduate Coordinator Network. Participates in professional development activities and conferences.Other related functions supporting the BME advising office as assigned.
