Google Senior Financial Analyst, Technical Infrastructure Finance in Austin, Texas

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7 years of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), consulting, a related function, or an advanced degree.

  • Experience in manipulating data sets using SQL or another programming/scripting language.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to be comfortable with using SQL (e.g., BigQuery) to extract and manipulate data to transform that data into actionable insights.

  • Ability to be comfortable with ambiguity, make progress and drive insights with incomplete information.

  • Excellent quantitative, written, and presentation skills that enable you to collaborate effectively and influence executive leadership.

  • Excellent time-management skills that enables you to prioritize competing deliverables and stakeholders.

Financial Analysts ensure that Google makes sound financial decisions. As a Financial Analyst, your work, whether it's modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, is used by our leaders to make strategic company decisions. Working on multiple projects at a time, you are focused on the details while finding creative ways to take on big picture challenges.

As someone who knows the workings of the core Finance team inside and out, you'll lead individual projects to transform planning, tracking and control processes. You'll provide senior level management with insightful recommendations, planning and reporting support.

As a Senior Financial Analyst supporting TI’s Networking team, you will be an integral finance business partner to the team that builds and operates Google's network. You will become a financial expert, trusted partner, and responsible for providing actionable insights that have a meaningful impact on the business.

In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to work regularly with the business' executive leadership team. You will be deeply embedded in the business and expected to serve as a strategic thought partner (direction setter vs task taker). Your work, whether it's modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, will be used by our engineering, business, and finance leaders to make strategic resource allocation decisions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$196,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Collaborate with the business to identify opportunities for efficiency enhancements and provide the necessary controllership to guarantee the successful execution of these programs, ensuring that identified value leads to value capture.

  • Manage core Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) responsibilities, such as month-end close, collaborating with business partners to update forecasts, and driving the annual budget process.

  • Lead cross-functional projects with teams from various departments, including Technical Infrastructure (TI) business partners, accounting, finance, internal audit, systems, and engineering.

  • Manage monthly finance reviews (MFRs) for the business’ leadership, covering results of the profit and loss, explaining variances in terms of business drivers, and highlighting opportunities through deeper analyses.

  • Develop metrics and dashboards to improve forecast accuracy, support business teams in proactively achieving annual plans, and enable stakeholders to self-serve.
