General Motors Senior Program Manager – Vehicle Data PMO in Austin, Texas

Job Description

General Motors' Vehicle Data Program Management Organization (PMO) is seeking an experienced and passionate Program Manager that is a high-energy individual who is comfortable dealing with ambiguity, engaging with leadership, and collaborating with teams across GM.

In this role, you will be instrumental in steering the programs across the organizations to successful delivery. You will be working with a talented group of cross functional stakeholders across the organizations to develop execution plans that enable quality launches of our features and products.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope, status, charter, timeline, and resource planning ensuring alignment with business objectives, timely delivery, and exceptional quality.

  • Identify potential risks and key interdependencies, develop mitigation strategies, and action plans to address them.

  • Demonstrate initiative and autonomy in driving large projects/programs end to end, consistently seeking opportunities for improvements and innovation.

  • Exhibit clear and concise communication to executive level, showcasing professionalism through compelling presentations that utilize storytelling and metrics to display project progress and insights.

  • Facilitate inclusive meetings with attention to detail, accountability, and intentionality, ensuring the appropriate forum, cadence, and audience as well as documenting and following up on action plans

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration, operating as a key partner for product and engineering, by employing strategic communication and influencing tactics to maximize collective impact.

  • Lead teams through change, fostering a culture of adaptability by adjusting project/program plans accordingly and ensure appropriate communication to all stakeholders.

  • Display professional courage by driving accurate and honest results with a sense of urgency, inspiring the team to operate with heightened engagement and efficiency.

  • Apply domain expertise across key functions (program, engineering, product, design), appropriate project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Lean...), and strong business acumen

  • Uphold GM’s core beliefs and behaviors necessary to maintain a productive team culture without inhibiting individuality and personal diversity.

  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget to ensure that program objectives can be met.

  • Address engineering and product team potential issues by removing barriers and drive clarity on program execution priorities.

  • Influence relevant stakeholders and establish/maintain relationships, providing day-to-day contact on program status and changes.

  • Communicate program outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues, as necessary, according to program work plan.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, implement corrective actions, and ensure program success.

  • Build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on your program.

  • Track program progress, analyze data, and generate insights to optimize performance.

  • Develop and maintain program documentation and reporting standards.

  • Developing tracking scorecards and metrics to illustrate status and ownership.

  • Developing milestone reviews for the key milestones and ensures the team is on track to deliver.

  • Align cross-functional business and technical teams to help ensure alignment of goals and to help resolve conflicting priorities.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software project/program management or related experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science or related field.

  • Experience leading programs with technical and non-technical teams.

  • Strong program management experience, with practical familiarity in Agile, Scaled Agile Framework and Waterfall methodologies, applied where most effective.

  • Proven track record of influencing without direct authority, fostering collaboration.

  • Demonstrated leadership in motivating cross-functional team members across different time zones and backgrounds to achieve goals effectively and efficiently.

  • Lead teams through change, fostering a culture of adaptability by adjusting project/program plans accordingly and ensure appropriate communication to all stakeholders.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience administrating and configuring tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Service Now or similar tools

  • Domain knowledge in Vehicle Data

  • MBA

  • PMP Certification

This role allows to be remote, but if you live within a 50-mile radius of the location, you are expected to report to that location three times a week.

This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
