As we continue to build our innovative portfolio, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to the advancement of commercial software solutions within our Bioinformatics and Software Development group in the Molecular Diagnostics Division. Leveraging a strong engineering background and expertise in cloud software development, you will design and deliver high-quality, cloud-based analysis software for genetics and oncology data processing, reporting, and visualization needs. Working collaboratively and cross-functionally with other software developers, engineers, and scientists, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure, automated DevOps processes, and high-quality software solutions for internal and external customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the functional lead and primary subject matter expert for designing and implementing cloud infrastructure, services, and DevOps processes.

  • Identify and effectively communicate unrecognized project needs and deliver appropriate solutions.

  • Contribute to functional software design, development, and testing of regulated commercial software applications that directly meet Asuragen’s research and clinical market needs.

  • Proactively and effectively collaborate with senior individuals across teams to deliver and support high-quality end-to-end solutions.

  • Train other software developers on cloud solution approaches, methods, and technology.

  • Identify, promote, defend, and implement internal process improvements and technical advancements.

  • Actively participate in an Agile software development process and lead specific design, planning, estimation, execution, and verification testing activities.

  • Effectively communicate technical topics and project outcomes both internally and externally.

Qualifications

Who You Are & What You Bring

  • A natural problem solver with an innovative mindset coupled with strong technical acumen.

  • Master’s degree with 5+ years of industry experience in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of industry experience.

  • Extensive experience developing and deploying cloud-based software using Azure; additional experience with AWS highly desired.

  • Expert working knowledge of Python, Rust, or C#; experience with JavaScript preferred.

  • Experience developing and testing software in Unix/Linux.

  • Extensive experience with commercial software development tools including professional IDEs (Visual Studio, VS Code, PyCharm), version control with Git, and either Jira or Azure DevOps.

  • Extensive experience writing unit and integration tests and understanding of test-driven design.

  • Experience with performance testing, profiling and optimization preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for working in a multi-disciplinary team setting.

  • Superb written and verbal communication skills including presenting to audiences with diverse backgrounds.
