Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation.

  • Set up and adjust all equipment and manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.

  • Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures.

  • Perform routine and complex studies and assist in a variety of imaging procedures.

  • Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.

  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning.

  • Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.

  • Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).

  • Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.

  • Perform procedural quality assurance.

  • Ensure any individual present within procedure performance area observe safety procedures.

  • Assess patient and family need for education and assistance specific to Imaging procedure and coordinate service.

  • Monitor protocols and recommend updates or refinements as warranted.

  • Assist with staff development, orientation to departmental procedure, training and education.

  • Determine need for equipment maintenance and reports malfunctions.

  • Charges examinations, supplies and complete paperwork promptly and properly.

  • Review procedural charges and coding, recommending adjustments as protocols change or new procedures are added.

  • Meet requirements outlined in Imaging/CPDX Technologist Ladder Criteria for Level Three placement.

  • Ladder assignment is reviewed annually to determine on-going performance of criteria, with possible reassignment based on available data to support placement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • May be required to be "on-call."

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

  • One or more of the following required:

  • Cardiographic Tech specializing in Vascular Interpretation credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Vascular Sonography (ARRT-VS) also accepted.

  • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography(ARDMS) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Any American Registryfor Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) item accepted.

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical certificate/degree required.
