Amazon Sr Solutions Architect, AI/ML Sustainability Lead, Energy - Products & Solutions in Austin, Texas

Description

Are you passionate about driving sustainable transformations in the energy and utilities sector? Do you want to help customers leverage the latest cloud and AI technologies to power innovative sustainability solutions? In this role, you will be a trusted advisor, guiding customers on their journey to a more sustainable future. As a Sustainability Solution Architect, you will collaborate with engineering and product teams to influence the direction of sustainability-focused solutions. You will work closely with customers in various geographies to enable large-scale sustainability use cases and drive the adoption of cloud-based sustainability tools and services.

You will interact with other Solution Architects, providing guidance on their customer engagements. You will develop white papers, blogs, reference implementations, and presentations to enable customers and partners to fully leverage cloud and AI capabilities for sustainability initiatives. You will also create field enablement materials for the broader SA population, helping them understand how to integrate sustainability solutions into customer architectures. This includes showcasing best practices, deployment patterns, and the latest sustainable technology trends.

Importantly, you will drive effective feedback gathering from engineering, product, and customers. You will distill and translate that feedback into clear business and technical requirements for the product and engineering teams to review. You will sponsor the creation of rapid prototypes, products, and features from these requirements, working closely with the teams to minimize drift from your customers' sustainability needs.

Key job responsibilities

  • Technical Liaison - Act as a bridge between customers and AWS product teams, gathering and communicating customer requirements and feedback to shape the evolution of AWS sustainability-focused services. Advocate for customer needs in the development of new features and improvements to existing sustainability solutions.

  • Solution Architecture - Design and build innovative, scalable sustainability solutions leveraging AWS services such as Amazon EC2, S3, RDS, and analytics services like Amazon Redshift and Amazon QuickSight. Create architecture diagrams and technical documentation to guide implementation.

  • Field Enablement - Develop comprehensive training materials, best practices guides, and reference architectures to empower the broader AWS Solutions Architect community. Focus on integrating sustainability-focused AWS services into customer cloud architectures, emphasizing security, scalability, and cost optimization.

  • AI/ML & GenAI Integration - Implement cutting-edge machine learning models using services like Amazon SageMaker to drive sustainability insights and optimize customer operations. Develop proof-of-concept projects and prototypes that demonstrate the power of AWS AI/ML & GenAI services in addressing sustainability challenges.

  • Thought Leadership - Establish yourself as a sustainability and cloud expert through various channels. Author technical blogs for the AWS Blog, create detailed white papers on sustainability architectures, present at AWS events like re:Invent and AWS Summits, and engage with customers in architectural deep-dive sessions to showcase AWS sustainability solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience

  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience

  • Sustainability Background: Demonstrated experience or strong interest in sustainability initiatives, environmental management systems, or related fields. Familiarity with sustainability frameworks is a plus.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with experience presenting complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Consulting Experience: Prior experience in a customer-facing technical role, demonstrating the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience

  • Experience working with end user or developer communities

  • Industry Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional certification required. Additional certifications such as AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty or relevant sustainability certifications are desirable.

  • Programming Proficiency: Hands-on experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Go) and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
