We are looking for an experienced System Development Engineer with deep expertise in Windows OS client management at scale, as well as designing and developing technology solutions to manage the fleet.

Systems Development Engineers:

Systems Development Engineers at Amazon is a unique role which organically emerged as the company evolved. Inspiration for the Systems Development Engineer came from Systems Engineers who “built” unique technology to solve business and customer problems.

Systems Development Engineers perform traditional Systems Engineering and writes or develops scripts, applications, or mechanisms to manage infrastructure. This role was created for the “builder” population of Systems Engineers who go beyond using basic tools and GUIs to implement infrastructure as code and even server-less systems.

Client Engineering Windows team:

Client Engineering Windows team is part of the Enterprise Engineering organization and manages one of the largest Windows client fleets in the world. Our focus is to consistently raise Amazon’s security bar while ensuring smooth productivity experience for our end users. We build and maintain the solutions to manage Amazon's global Windows client fleets. We are using AWS products to evolve traditional enterprise tools and services at a large scale.

We are looking for a Systems Development Engineer with a Windows fleet management and development background. In this role, you and your team will directly influence Amazon's Windows endpoint management roadmap. You will be a technical leader who solves complex business architectural problems for your team. You will design technology solutions and architectures that solve complex business or technical problems. You will lead projects that improve engineering and operations processes, setting the standards for engineering best practices and operational excellence. You will lead by example, delivering solutions which are inventive, resilient, and extensible. You will use native AWS services, external 3rd party services, and DevOps patterns to manage a growing fleet of Windows client devices.

This is a hands-on position where your daily activities include Windows clients fleet administration, developing tools and automation, root cause analysis, maintaining service infrastructures. You will contribute to operations and development activities as we build the next generation of Windows management tools.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 4+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience

  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

  • 4 years of Windows OS fleet management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java

  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
