The Opportunity

This position works out of our Austin, Texas location in the in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.

The Third Party Manufacturer (TPM) Project Manager II will manage administratively small to medium scale projects, including, but not limited to:

• Specialist professional individual contributor with comprehensive knowledge in the area of Contract Manufacturing and Project Management.

• Ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects.

• Adapts precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.

What You’ll Work On

Project Management

• Knowledgeable resource within the organization in monitoring quality, compliance and regulatory aspects between company and contract manufacturers including relationship management, technical issues, schedule conflicts, quality issues, vendor selection and evaluation.

• Acts as liaison between company and contract manufacturers to ensure all products are manufactured following good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and quality products are released and available to meet customer needs.

• Managing multiple projects concurrently.

• Works closely with project teams to manage schedule, resources, scope, execution and adherence to internal and external standards and specifications

• Provide coordination with project team and stake holders

• Provide communications of status and upcoming activities to project team, stakeholders, and management

• Manage project risks by developing appropriate mitigation plans & providing timely escalation of relevant issues to stakeholder and management.

• Complete project close-out activities, including financials, asset management, compiling turn-over documentation and validation reports, etc.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Working closely with the Global Project Management / Regional Contract Manufacturers Operations, manage engagement with one (or possibly more depending on the scale of the project) project stakeholders across functional, department, division and other parties to establish strong working relationships

• Development and successful delivery of stakeholder engagement plans in accordance with the overarching stakeholder engagement strategy

• Manage stakeholder mapping and prepare communications to stakeholders and respond to stakeholder enquiries

• Provide briefings and support to technical teams for meetings with stakeholders

• Arrange and attend stakeholder meetings with technical team members and ensure feedback of stakeholder responses and requests to technical teams are responded to within agreed timescales

• Prepare and manage workshops, review, and discussion including developing agendas, project plans, minute taking and production of reports

• Ensure all documentation that are generated during project implementation recorded on project SharePoint

• Attend meetings, collaborative planning workshops and report to site on progress

• Generate reports / presentations for Steering Committee Meeting

Design Transfer Activities

• Attend cross functional meetings and analyze impact of design changes to TPM process / procedures with the appropriate SMEs.

• Facilitate / lead impact assessments at TPM by organizing meetings & workshops to determine full scope of design transfer.

• Maintain compliance to TPM and divisional project portfolio management processes such as completion of project initiation forms, facilitating completion of detailed project charters, supporting project phase gate reviews, steering committees etc.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. inengineering, or closely related discipline is required with 3-5 years of engineering, construction and/or operational experience.

  • A technical background in health care, nutritional products, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceutical, or similar industries (strongly preferred)

  • Understanding and management of projects, procurement & contracting processes.

  • Strong communicator and good team leader

Preferred Qualifications

  • Operations or project management experience in medical device manufacturing environments

The base pay for this position is $64,000.00 – $128,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
