As we expand and modernize our operations, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President, Power Supply and Delivery to execute power supply and delivery strategies.

PHYSICAL OFFICE LOCATION: Johnson City, TX 78636

Position Summary

This position is responsible for planning, directing, and executing power delivery and power supply strategies as well as associated governance to ensure the Cooperative achieves its strategic goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement member rate offerings strategy and design

  • Direct the rate plan and managing rate policy with the board, including cost of service studies and economic analysis of all rates

  • Establish and maintain power delivery metrics, collaborating with Financial Planning and Analysis to ensure costs are recovered and cross-class subsidies are minimized

  • Direct the power supply strategy and ensure lowest cost of power supply for PEC members

  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for all power supply counterparties

  • Execute power supply transactions as delegated authority by CFO and CEO

  • Ensure an adequate number of enabling agreements are in place to ensure credit and operational diversity of power supply

  • Seek out and originate power supply transactions with project developers when economics dictate

  • Partner with Commodity Risk Officer to obtain Commodity Risk Officer review of all structured power supply transactions

  • Collaborate with Director of Risk and Strategic Analysis as well as Settlements Manager to evaluate economics of all power supply transactions

  • Collaborate with Director of Risk and Strategic Analysis as well as CFO to develop power supply hedging strategy and adjust as necessary

  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of market risk and hedge position

  • Manage PEC REC positions and related account with ERCOT

  • Manage all aspects of LCRA power supply contract with input from Director of Risk and Strategic Analysis on LCRA business plan

  • Collaborate with Director or Risk and Strategic Analysis to develop and maintain position, P&L and credit exposure reports to inform the board, management and ensure compliance with power supply policy

  • Partner with Commodity Risk Officer to conduct periodic review of power supply policy and compliance

  • Serve on LCRA Rates and Resources board and GenTex board as PEC delegate

  • Responsible for ensuring that LCRA executes QSE and settlements functions under the LCRA contract

  • Maintain the security of confidential information

  • Stay abreast of advances in technology

  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance

  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

    Supervisory and/or Leadership Responsibilities

    A full range of supervisory activities, training, evaluation, counseling and recommendation for termination. This includes, but is not limited to, effectively communicating organizational policies and other information to subordinates, ensuring that employees have a clear understanding of their responsibilities.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledgeable of ERCOT ancillary services and markets

  • Knowledge of Risk Management and analysis related to power supply

  • Knowledge of energy risk technology platforms and best practices for applying technology solutions to risk management activities

  • Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data, processing information, or Microsoft Applications such as Excel

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service

  • Advanced knowledge of business and management principles including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and budgeting

  • Ability to develop a wide network of relationships with energy suppliers

  • Ability to develop and mentor staff

  • Skilled in anticipating, identifying, analyzing and resolving conflict and problems

  • Skilled in time management and managing changing priorities

  • Skilled Advanced level of verbal and written communication skills and providing updates to Management

  • Highly self-motivated and driven for results

    Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensing)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • Master’s Degree in a related field preferred

  • Directly related experience may substitute for education

  • Ten years directly related work experience in the utility or power trading environment, including five years managerial experience

  • Experience with diverse portfolio of energy resources including all forms of dispatchable and non-dispatchable intermittent renewable power supplies

  • Experience in energy trading and risk management in the ERCOT Market, including transmission congestion and cost across the ERCOT load zones

  • Exempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate them for all hours worked during each pay period

  • This position may be required to work more than 40 hours per week
