Actalent Buyer Planner in Avon, Connecticut

Job Title: Buyer-PlannerJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Buyer-Planner to join our division located in Avon. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our manufacturing process runs smoothly and efficiently, meeting production and quality requirements. The Buyer-Planner will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and assisting with purchasing for production departments. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments, leveraging data analytics and forecasting models to anticipate future production needs and prevent overstock or stockouts. This role requires excellent communication and negotiation skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capability to make quick decisions in a dynamic production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and purchase for production departments to meet production and quality requirements using available business systems.

  • Resolve discrepancies related to work orders by coordinating with Manufacturing, Production Support, Quality, EH&S, Material Control, and Customer Service departments.

  • Leverage data analytics and forecasting models to anticipate future production needs and prevent overstock or stockouts.

  • Develop, oversee, and maintain all buyer-planning functions related to the assigned manufacturing department(s).

  • Coordinate manufacturing schedules to meet customer service requirements while optimizing low inventories and managing supply through MRP/Supply and Demand.

  • Notify Manager of necessary procedure changes to reflect current best practices for ISO 9001 compliance.

  • Receive and process requisitions, quoting, and purchasing for various supplies and parts by working with supported departments.

  • Expedite orders as necessary or as directed.

  • Reduce costs through proactive vendor management and improve service by maintaining supplier relationships.

  • Make suggestions to adjust inventory levels (safety stock) based on usage and new business opportunities.

  • Maintain confidentiality when working with proprietary information.

  • Maintain all purchasing and planning documentation, including Purchase Orders and Receiving documentation (COO, COA).

  • Reconcile receiving and accounting issues.

  • Ensure accuracy of production schedules based on MRP, Sales Forecast, and Production Capabilities.

  • Serve as a role model for safe work practices and behaviors, including following established health and safety policies and procedures, maintaining a clean, organized work area, and wearing and properly storing all personal protective equipment (PPE).

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of purchasing/planning experience.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to make quick decisions in a dynamic production environment.

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledge of MRP system functionality, Inventory Control Practices, Material Flow, Shop Order, Continuous Improvement, and ISO 9000.

  • Ability to train others on existing procedures.

  • Excellent organization, visual attention to detail, and computer skills.

  • Blueprint reading and working knowledge of MRP and inventory control.

  • Willingness and ability to learn in a fast-paced environment and follow written procedures.

Work Environment

The work environment includes collaboration with multiple departments such as Manufacturing, Production Support, Quality, EH&S, Material Control, and Customer Service. Employees are expected to maintain a clean and organized work area, wear and properly store all personal protective equipment (PPE), and actively engage as safety-conscious workers with personal safety and wellness as a priority.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $95000.00
