Pfaudler, Inc. 3D CAD Designer/Drafter in Avondale, Pennsylvania

Edlon, a division of Pfaudler, Inc., a leading supplier of highly engineered, critical equipment and systems for global energy, chemical and industrial markets has an immediate opening for a Designer/Drafter experienced in 3D Solid Modeling Design of ASME Code pressure equipment such as heat exchangers, evaporators, blenders, receivers, mechanical assemblies and agitated reactors is a plus. A qualified candidate would be responsible for the design and/or drafting of engineered-to-order projects involving highly corrosion resistant pressure equipment engineered in a variety of specialty alloy materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A qualified candidate would be working from a detailed order specification in conjunction with a Product Engineer to convert customer requirements into detailed engineering specifications, including drawings. This candidate would have to be experienced with the creation of typical component fabrication and machining drawings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A.A.S. degree in a Technical field.

  • Eligible candidates should be proficient in 3D solid modeling using SolidWorks and 2D design drafting using AutoCAD.

  • Five (5) years related experience in a related field a plus

  • Familiarity with ASME Code a plus.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

  • General computers skills (email and internet).

  • Experience in the fabrication of and design of ASME Code pressure equipment such as tanks, columns and agitated reactors is a major plus but is not essential.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Detail oriented.

  • 2D drafting of component level parts and sub-assemblies, including those generated from 3D solid models.

  • 3D solid modeling with SolidWorks.

  • Familiarity with shop fabrication methods (rolling, welding, machining operations).

  • Weld symbol creation and specification in accordance with AWS standards.

  • Shall be familiar with Microsoft Office software.

  • Working with manufacturing departments before and during assembly phase of projects.

  • Able to plan out jobs in the most efficient way possible.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-changing disruptive environment.

  • Ability to perform under time pressures and meet deadlines.

  • Personal qualities of integrity, honesty, and strong work ethic.

Working Conditions

  • Work is generally performed in an office and safe/factory environment.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually under 80 db.

  • Position requires infrequent, local travel.

  • Work over 40 hours per week (10%+) is occasionally required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit or reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities require by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Inspection and judgment of quality of work and materials. Ability to spot dangerous or potential hazardous situations at a distance.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and will be required to wear the appropriate PPE. The employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the shop environment is occasionally loud. The temperature in work areas is not regulated everywhere and can occasionally be hot or cold depending on the outside temperature.
