Position Summary

Focuses on activities designed to maintain and improve the vehicle quality level in several key areas: the build quality of the vehicle, the quality of the pre-delivery inspection (PDI), and the quality of accessories and the proper installation as performed by the port processor.

Major Responsibilities

  • Inspects vehicles and generates reports on deficiencies.

  • Applies thorough knowledge of the function of each vehicle model to understand its characteristics.

  • Judges accessory installation compliance against Subaru of America’s (SOA’s) standards.

  • Performs teardown audits to confirm hidden aspects of complex installations, including critical wire harness routing and tie off points.

  • Trains others on all facets of the port PDI process as needed.

  • Performs minor to mid-range vehicle diagnosis and repairs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of campaign activities alone, or as part of a group.

  • Inspects and oversees port discrepant parts program.

  • Participates in new accessory installation trials.

  • Participates in new-model-launch-related programs.

  • Generates communications in the absence of the Port Quality Assurance Manager.

Required Skills & Personal Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and at least two (2) years of relevant experience in automotive industry related to technical/quality evaluations.

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university or ASE certification (ASE G1 or similar certifications) preferred.

  • Ability to train small groups in specific tasks.

  • Ability to complete projects without supervision.

  • Mid-range mechanical ability; some specific Subaru knowledge preferred.

  • Ability to judge quality exceptions impartially and consistently.

  • Ability to interact with a variety of individuals, groups, and companies.

  • Ability to attend off-site technical training classes.

  • Computer skills to include PowerPoint, digital imaging manipulation, bar code scan tool data logging, and service and parts manual online access and research.

  • Ability to work shift hours and limited overtime (to include weekends) as required.

Work Environment:

  • Physical Demands: Lifting up to 50 lbs. Walking, bending, and long periods on feet

  • Internal Work Environment: All weather conditions, all times of the year, inside and outside of buildings

  • Required Travel: 5% (offsite technical training)

FLA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $55,800 – $70,000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
