Job Overview

JENSEN HUGHES, Inc. is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator with experience supporting cloud and on-premise systems in a Microsoft-focused environment. This position is ideally located in our Baltimore, MD corporate office, but we are open to remote anywhere within the United States.

The ideal candidate will join a global, growing company and perform a wide range of IT duties that include managing and supporting the full suite of Microsoft 365 services, on-premise Windows servers and classic Active Directory infrastructure, and should be comfortable working regularly with PowerShell to perform administrative duties and to create basic automation scripts. This position will report to and be supported by an experienced Team Lead who currently administers these existing solutions and would work closely with other teams within the IT Infrastructure group to accomplish organizational goals.

This position will be the escalation point for support tickets within the role’s responsibilities that require assistance from our IT Support team or escalation to Microsoft support. This position will also support merger and acquisition activities within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, and work on other miscellaneous IT Infrastructure and Security related projects and tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage & troubleshoot Active Directory and associated services, including DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

  • Manage BYO & company-provided MDM profiles via Microsoft Intune for iOS and Android devices.

  • Install, upgrade, replace, or troubleshoot Windows Servers and Windows Server-based solutions, such as license managers, cloud connectors, and simple server-based applications on virtualized infrastructure or IaaS.

  • Manage Microsoft Teams voice services and integration with Direct Routing as a Service, including end user voice services, basic call flows, and Microsoft Teams enabled devices.

  • Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange (Online and limited on-premise) infrastructure and recipients.

  • Manage Microsoft Entra, including users, groups, service accounts, apps and permissions. Configure new and existing systems to required levels of compliance and security with collaboration and guidance of other internal teams.

  • Support M&A activities as part of an acquiring firm, such as migration of users, mailboxes, Teams, and other data within the Microsoft 365 environment.

  • Lead advanced troubleshooting with users and other team members on escalated tickets.

  • Produce internal documentation for consumption by other teams, such as diagrams, how-to guides, or configuration documentation.

  • Perform technical validation and testing of proposed changes in Microsoft environments to help plan for and limit user impact during organizational change.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4-5+ years’ experience in administering and troubleshooting Microsoft enterprise-level environments in a primarily Windows and M365 focused environment.

  • Ability to read & write PowerShell and produce re-usable scripts or code snippets across the IT Team and across various projects.

  • Experience working in an environment with Information Security and Compliance policies and procedures.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) or System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) strongly desired, including packaging of applications and co-management of hybrid joined Windows workstations

  • Experience working with cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) providers strongly desired.

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve problems with sometimes unfamiliar or specialty software.

  • Strong desire to learn new technologies and to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in IT and Information Security.

  • While not required, the following qualifications would be considered a plus:

  • Experience managing Microsoft environments within AWS

  • Experience managing or working with Ubuntu/CentOS (or similar distributions) in a domain environment

  • Experience packaging applications for deployment with endpoint management tools

  • Experience with management and governance tools in the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI)
