Robert Half Project Accountant in Baltimore, Maryland

Description

We are seeking a skilled Project Accountant in the Real Estate & Property industry, located in BALTIMORE, Maryland. This role entails maintaining the general ledger, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and providing accounting services support. This role will be instrumental in our team's efforts to streamline construction payments, manage contracts, and oversee the full accounts payable cycle for development projects.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Project Managers to create, track, and analyze budgets for development projects

• Monitor project progress and spending to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget

• Accurately process and report on pay applications and loan draws related to construction projects

• Collaborate with the development team to address any budget variances or potential issues

• Manage contracts on development projects, ensuring compliance and smooth execution

• Support the closing process for real estate transactions, analyzing settlements and recording financial entries

• Partner with Project Managers on invoice coding, approvals, and budget adjustments

• Generate ad-hoc reports to provide timely financial insights to the development team

• Maintain accurate monthly accounting records for development projects including preparation of reconciliations

• Oversee the full accounts payable cycle for development projects, including processing invoices, writing checks, and ensuring vendor compliance

• Allocate payroll costs accurately across various projects

• Calculate returns and manage distributions of equity and profits

• Assist with year-end 1099 preparation and collaborate on tax return preparation

Requirements • Proven experience as a Sr. Accountant in the Real Estate & Property industry

• Proficient in Commercial Real Estate practices and principles

• Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries

• Extensive knowledge of managing General Ledgers

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Familiarity with Audit - Financial processes and procedures

• Proficiency in Financial Reporting

• Solid understanding of Construction Accounting practices

• Experience in managing Construction Loans

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Proficient in MS Office Suite and accounting software

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required

• CPA or other relevant certification is a plus.
