Amergis Staffing iscurrently seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RN) for Labor & Delivery (L&D) assignments in Baltimore, MD!

Position Details:

Contract Length: 13 weeks (+ability toextend)

Number of Openings: 1

Start Date: 1/13 or 1/27

Hours/Shifts/Schedules: 36 (3x12's) / Day/Night rotation

Setting:

  • High Risk L&D unit

  • Level IV Perinatal center

  • Will float as needed to antepartum, postpartum, nursery, and mother/baby

    Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 2+ years of high-risk RN Labor & Delivery experience

  • MD RN or Compact RN license

  • BLS and ACLS (AHA), NRP, EFM, NST, EPIC (inpatient & stork), STABLE

TheLabor and Delivery nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for theapplication of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care in theL&D Setting. The Labor and Delivery nurse demonstrates the ability tomake clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner withsupervision.

Thelabor and delivery nurse works with Mothers during the final stages ofpregnancy helping with birthing, monitoring the Mother’s vital signs, andbecoming astute in signs and symptoms of possible complications. Thelabor and delivery nurse is involved in patient education and addressing thepsychosocial needs of Mothers after delivery and demonstrates critical thinkingand performance ability in the coordination of patientcare. Consistently performs according to nursing standards and isaccountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management ofpatient care.

Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care

  • Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition

  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and information from healthcare members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses

  • Plans for expected outcomes of care for those patients assigned

  • Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard

  • Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment

  • Uses clinical judgment in the evaluation of activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities

  • Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment

  • Promotes interpersonal relations with patients/family/significant others, hospital healthcare coworkers, and physicians

  • Uses effective communication skills with all contacts while being objective and sensitive

  • Communicates pertinent information about patient, nursing unit, and activities as appropriate

  • Monitors vital signs for the mother and baby

  • Administers medication as ordered

  • Monitors contractions and fetal heart rate

  • Identifies complications during labor and delivery

  • Communicates the mother’s condition and needs to the physician

  • Coaches the mother during labor and delivery and provides emotional support

  • Caring for the mother after she gives birth

  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse license within the state of practice.

  • One year of Labor and Delivery clinical experience within the last three years preferred.

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
