The T Rowe Price Fixed Income Technology team is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager focused on Fixed Income Risk . The accomplished hire will be responsible for managing a team of engineers and analysts , managing stakeholder relationships and for delivery . They will join a team of accomplished Engineering Managers as part of the Fixed Income Technology leadership team.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader, with experience of application development , data management and cloud-based architectures. They will be comfortable to empower the team members to be self-reliant in decision making, and ability to contribute equally as a team.

An essential part of this role is working closely with stakeholders in Risk Management and investment teams. Understanding their day-to-day requirements and strategic direction to strongly influence the technology roadmap focused on delivering business value.

While you will be responsible for the output of your team, you will also get direction and guidelines from senior leaders. We need a leader who a ligns to this direction and seek s to understand strategy, is humble with their direct reports and stakeholders throughout.

The role requires a technologist who champions testing at all levels, demands good hygiene of code , database design and APIs. You will need to be comfortable with databases, working with SQL to diagnose data issues, and digging into logs and documentation to truly understand what the systems are doing .

Our team is part of a wider Fixed Income Technology ecosystem, building n-tier, cloud- native platform . You will be leading an a gile team of smart, hardworking people whose mission is to develop new capabilities using modern cloud technologies used by our Risk Analysts, Portfolio Managers, and Quants. Role summary and job responsibilities

  • Manage s a software engineering team to deliver business -focused outcomes.

  • Work closely with Head of Fixed Income Risk and Senior Portfolio Managers to manage the roadmap for Risk Engineering.

  • Demonstrates exceptional leadership with hands-on capability to drive delivery.

  • Enables engineers to design and develop architecture solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards.

  • Apply people management skills to coach, mentor and develop engineers on the team

  • Assume ownership over the quality, TCO, maintainability and security of the solutions built by our team.

  • Overcome differences of opinion and drive team alignment around a specific goal or solution

  • Own technical debt across their development team and work to reduce it continuously.

    Software Lifecycle Leadership

  • Able to give quality feedback on designs written by other members of my team, asking probing, insightful questions that solidify choices and surface erroneous assumptions.

  • Encourage ways to simplify systems.

  • Look for opportunities that will lead to lower maintenance and costs with meaningful and measurable impact.

  • Preemptively identify technical risks before they jeopardize a project.

  • Resolve cross-team dependencies earl y to ensure the successful execution of the project.

  • Discourage re-inventing the wheel by leveraging other T Rowe Front Office Technology or off-the-shelf solutions with the possible trade-offs in mind.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND -8+ years of total relevant work experience and 2+ years of management experience

  • Experience in front office software development with an Asset Management, Hedge fund, or Investment Bank preferred

  • 5+ years' experience in leading large software development projects in terms of team size, technical c omplexity and/or organizational complexity preferred

  • Experience building containerized applications and deploying to public or private clouds, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar providers.

  • Software engineering experience with data, microservices, frameworks, and platform development

  • Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React or similar

  • Coding experience and solid working knowledge of one or more of JavaScript /React, Python and Kotlin .

  • At ease with implementing scrum ceremonies while balancing day-to-day delivery pressures.

  • 5 + years of business systems analysis or experience working with data and analyzing data preferred

  • Experience designing and delivering frameworks focused on data pipelines, data catalogs, data distribution, and/or advanced analytics

  • Proficient with a range of frameworks and development tools - AWS Lambda and Step Functions, SNS, SQS, S3, NoSQL databases, Git, ReactJS/Modern UI frameworks etc.

    Highly desirable

  • Knowledge of Fixed Income or derivatives

  • Proven working knowledge of Risk analytics platforms ( e.g MSCI, Bloomberg PORT, Barclay’s POINT)

  • Knowledge of Asset Management , Portfolio Management, Risk Management

FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for remote work up to three days a week.
