Lead Shop Floor Quality Engineer - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, OH

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead Shop Floor Quality Engineer will champion First Time Quality and support Shop Floor Quality Engineering group in their efforts to:

  • Assure appropriate Quality Engineering and other support is directed to all Top 14 Components.

  • Assign or provide timely Shop Floor Quality Engineering support and assistance for all NOG-B manufacturing, resolving quality issues and supporting compliance and First-Time Quality.

  • Audit, Monitor, Trend and Report shop quality and compliance to identify process, quality and compliance improvements. Work with to implement those changes.

  • Work with relevant teams to develop and implement quality, process and compliance improvement strategies.

  • Train and mentor Shop Floor Quality Engineers.

  • Assist unit manager supporting group responsibilities.

  • Serve as primary delegate for unit manager during absence or as needed.

  • Lead Shop Floor Quality Engineer will also:

  • Participate in internal audits and surveillances to assure compliance to customer and internal requirements.

  • Manage of CAPA (corrective action) resolution.

  • Provide leadership for root cause analysis, preventative action implementation as well as process improvement activities.

  • Develop and maintain quality system procedures and work instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelors Degree, in engineering or technical field. 3+ years quality assurance, engineering or manufacturing experience.

  • Solid math/statistical skills and knowledgeable in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and print reading.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, and assembly preferred but not required.

  • Experience or knowledge of inspection techniques including dimensional inspection, NDE methods such as ultrasound, magnetic particle inspection, liquid penetrant inspection and/or radiography preferred but not required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain and DOE security clearance.
