Overview

Perform tasks involving all types of craft skills on a commercial construction project. Primary duties will include constructing; erecting; installing; or repairing of structures and fixtures. This includes but is not limited to concrete forms; building framework; window and door frames; casework; siding; drywall; roofing; insulation; and/or other duties as assigned. Perform construction work; including concrete forms; building framework; window and door frames; casework; siding; drywall; roofing; insulation; vapor barrier installation; and/or other duties as assigned. Operate basic construction equipment; such as forklifts and loaders. Read and interpret plans and specifications. Good verbal and written communication skills. Perform duties and operation of tools of the trade in strict compliance with OSHA rules. Communicate with customers and suppliers. Additional duties as assigned. Certified Welder (Optional) "

Qualifications

" Have basic knowledge of related construction activities. Knowledge of carpentry on a commercial project construction work; including Form Work; Rebar; Concrete Placement and; Finishing; Survey and; Layout. Perform independently without direct supervision Ability to operate basic construction equipment; such as forklifts and loaders. Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform duties and operation of tools of the trade in strict compliance with OSHA rules. Have punctual and on time work history. Not been terminated within the past 6 months of employment with UIC or its family of companies. High School Diploma/or Equivalent Minimum of Two (2) years of related experience Possess a Valid Driver's License with a good driving record. Physical Demands: Strenuous walking; standing; and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying. Working on uneven walking surfaces; working on ladders and scaffolding. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body; such as climbing; lifting; balancing; walking; stooping; and handling of materials. Using hands and arms in handling; installing; positioning; moving materials; and manipulating materials. Safe distant vision Good near vision Good hearing Wear safety glasses Wear hard hat Environmental Conditions: Loud noises; and/or extremes of heat or cold. The work often requires wearing protective gear that may be uncomfortable. The nature of the work environment may produce moderate levels of stress. Work environment is that of a construction site. May be working in close proximity to moving equipment.
