Job Overview:

APTIM is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to provide leadership and direction for design projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. This position will act as the lead for multi-discipline designs and will interface with client representatives, internal project management, and engineering staff. APTIM is looking to develop passionate and motivated project engineers into project management professionals and equip them to become leaders in a rapidly growing firm.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Maintains frequent and consistent verbal and written communication with clients, partners, and APTIM leadership on the status of engineering deliverables

  • Provides direction and oversight to the architectural and engineering design leads on an assigned project

  • Responsible for the execution of engineering deliverables including the engineering schedule, budget, document controls, and staffing

  • Establishes and develops project procedures to ensure deliverables meet client and established engineering and project requirements

  • Identifies conflicts, requests, and requirements and liaisons with the engineering team

  • Maintains and promotes a focus on APTIM's end product whether engineering, fabrication, procurement, or construction

  • Supports development of contract proposals

  • As needed, visits project sites to monitor activities throughout project lifecycle

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Candidate must be willing and able to obtain a US Security Clearance to support the projects

  • Requires Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited program

  • Licensed Professional Engineer

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience

  • Ability to quickly acquire a working knowledge of program- or project-specific standards, procedures, and correspondence

  • Well organized and confident in communicating to clients and internal team

  • Demonstrated experience in leading multi-discipline architect and engineering teams from design through construction and project closeout

  • Experience relaying technical subject matter to diverse audiences

  • Candidate must be willing to travel to support project needs

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous DOE project experience

  • ASME NQA-1 experience

  • Current or former US security clearance

  • Previous experience working with teaming subcontractors to produce consolidated designs
