Kellanova Associate Data Steward in Battle Creek, Michigan

Join our dynamic, progressive team of IT professionals as an Associate Data Steward! In this role, you’ll collaborate with Kellanova North America (KNA) IT and regional business partners to ensure we have accurate, consistent, and reliable data. Your responsibilities include implementing quality rules, analyzing data, and maintaining the data catalog. The position is open to locations in the United States with a preference for Naperville, IL and Battle Creek, MI.

On the KNA IT Data and Analytics team, we focus on agility, growth, and innovation. We aim to enhance decision-making capabilities, maximizing growth potential for our trusted food brands.

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Data Cataloging – Maintain a comprehensive data catalog by documenting all data assets within the organization. Collaborate with stakeholders to implement data classification schemes, adhere to metadata standards, and ensure efficient data discovery and retrieval.

  • Data Governance and Quality – Collaborate with the data quality team to deliver metrics, monitor data quality, and make informed decisions regarding data endorsements or depreciation. Assist the Global Data and Analytics team in enforcing data governance policies, maintaining standards, and ensuring data integrity, security, and privacy.

  • Metadata Management – Oversee metadata repositories and dictionaries, capturing and maintaining essential information about data assets. Standardize metadata formats and taxonomies to enhance data understanding and interoperability. Facilitate metadata harvesting from diverse sources to enrich the data catalog.

  • Stewardship and Collaboration – Foster a culture of data stewardship and accountability by promoting awareness and training on data management principles and best practices. Collaborate with internal and external partners to align data management initiatives with organizational goals and priorities.

    We’re Looking for Someone With

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or related field or equivalent work experience

  • Understanding of data management concepts, including data modeling, data lineage, and data quality

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify trends and anomalies

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization

  • Familiarity with data cataloging tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica) and metadata management platforms preferred
