Job Description

RWC, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high speed automated assembly and welding equipment is looking for an experienced Senior Applications Engineer.

The Senior Applications Engineer independently develops and documents innovative and/or complex equipment concepts, accurate equipment cost estimates and the quotations to ensure competitive and timely responses to customer inquiries.

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews and coordinates with Sales Department and the customers to ensure that requests for quotes are understood and include the required information.
  • Determines independently complex equipment concepts, develops a written proposal response to a request for quotation which is within RWC's capabilities and adheres to customer specifications. Estimates accurate direct costs, includes firm quotations on special or major purchase components and describes special areas such as mechanical motion, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical controls.
  • Coordinates or prepares the required proposal drawings or sketches.
  • Establishes documents to be used for the assembly and maintenance of the project master file.
  • Coordinates, schedules, conducts and documents project initiation meetings to ensure customer specifications and quotations are clear between RWC departments and the customer.
  • Quotes and assists in the negotiations for customer requested changes.
  • Coordinates and assists sales with customer plant visits when needed.
  • Directs and provides advice on complex technical problems to other Applications Engineers as capable or instructed by the Applications Engineering Manager.
  • Knowledgeable and compliant with the company's standards and operating procedures.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment with little or no discomfort due to noise, dust, temperature, etc.
  • Domestic and international travel, including air travel.
  • Occasional exposure to a manufacturing process with slightly higher noise and dust levels.

Additional Requirements

  • A level of knowledge generally associated with completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressively more responsible experience in all aspects of applications engineering.
  • Administrative and organizational skills needed for coordinating the activities of customers with other RWC Departments, as needed, during quoting phase.
  • Analytical ability needed for developing and quoting accurate equipment cost. Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with all management levels, customers, vendors, and other employees.
  • Organizational skills to work on several complex projects simultaneously in order to meet required quoting requirements.
  • Ability to work using computers and adapt to applicable software.
  • Must be able to work in a team work environment.
