Medicaid Coordinator
SHIFT: Full-Time/ 37.5 hour per week

JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Medicaid Coordinator assists residents/responsible parties with Medicaid applications to assure that the facility can bill for services provided. Maintain financial systems in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
+ + Coordinate with Admissions, Social Workers and Business Office to educate residents/families about the availability of Medicaid benefits
Maintain continuous communication with the Department of Social Service and fulfill their requests for required documents (including but not limited to the 3559 form)
Maintain continuous communication with the resident, responsible party, outside attorney, facility attorney or outside provider if the application was completed with someone other than the Medicaid Coordinator, in conjunction with the Business Office Manager.
Request and obtain Medicaid required documents from banks, credit unions, investment firm, funeral homes, government agencies,….on the resident’s behalf.
Document each step of the process and progress made on each case and enter updates/comments in PCC.
Report and involve supervisor when encountering difficult situations such as uncooperative families, gifting, asset transfers, sanctions and/or non-payment of NAMI (estimated).
Enter an estimated NAMI into PCC and if no NAMI is confirmed enter $1K and apply for Rep Payee (or notify the Business Office to apply for Rep Payee) if applicable.
Follow through on each case until the County made a decision.
Document all in/out going calls in the billing collection module.
Maintain and upload a clear and logical filing system of all written communication.
Respect and adhere to rules & regulations regarding resident right
Maintain HIPAA privacy, security and confidentiality standard
Follow all established policies and procedure
Follow universal Precautions and Infection Control technique
Maintain Corporate Compliance standard
Other tasks as assigned by department head
Evaluate each account to determine if the account will be forwarded to an outside company, at the resident’s expense, to apply on their behalf or if the account will be processed with the assistance of the facility Medicaid Coordinator. Obtain authorization to represent and initiate the application process
REQUIREMENTS:
Associate college degree or a minimum of 2 years of experience in addition to a combination of continued education, and/or related work experience.
Demonstrated ability to be organized, resourceful, self-motivated and has good communication skills
Ability to travel among the facilities as needed
