Summary About the Position: This position is located in Beaufort, South Carolina for Elliott Elementary School. This position is Seasonal part-time (35 hours per week). This is a Term position NTE 13 months. Position may be made permanent without further competition. Responsibilities Clearly explain concepts being taught and observe students for understanding. Develop audio-visual tactile aides and set up lab demonstrations. Serve as an interpreter for deaf and/or hearing impaired students. Interprets teacher's directions and messages in sign language to students. Distribute and collect testing materials as needed by students. Provide supervision of and instruction to students on simple subject matter. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience service which includes: using experience and signing methodology to translate conversations between deaf/hearing impaired and hearing individuals; and performing basic instruction of a quasi-professional nature to the deaf/hearing impaired.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06 or above). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education And Training Instructional Delivery and Learner Development Standards Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
