Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
Under the supervision of the dean of the honors college, the associate dean of honors will provide overall leadership and program opportunities for honors students in collaboration with all other colleges on campus. The associate dean will work closely with the dean, the Office of Student Affairs, Office of Admissions, and Enrollment Management to support student development, academic achievement, and the College’s vision, mission, and goals in the pursuit of excellence.
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:
Honors College Program Support. Leads and manages multiple scholarship opportunities and programming involved with those scholarships. • Strong commitment to a student-centered approach, focusing on individual student needs and success.
Leadership and Strategic Planning. Assists the Dean with the overall mission and vision of the honors college, ensuring success with all initiatives. • Develops initiatives that promote student success and foster student collaboration. • Collaborates with the Dean in support of strategic planning, faculty and staff development, finance and budget.
Curriculum Planning. Leads initiatives that support the honors curriculum, with particular attention to the current and future educational and/or employment needs of students. 15% LU Job Description Form v.23.02 • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating student success programs and initiatives
Student Engagement. Engages with students for academic support and activities that support and enhance student learning experiences. • Recruits and retains highly qualified students by developing recruitment plans.
Collaboration and Partnership Development: Experience in building effective partnerships with various stakeholders, including faculty, industry partners, and community organizations, to enhance student opportunities.
Professional Learning. Partakes in professional learning opportunities in honors; may attend conferences and will teach undergraduate honors courses.
Research Development. Demonstrated success in research and scholarship with focus on enhancing research opportunities for students.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform occasional lifting/carrying of 10-15 pounds.
Job Conditions:
This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The role may occasionally require travel to attend meetings or events and could involve working outside regular hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet student and programming needs. The Associate Dean must manage a student-centered environment, handle all situations with dignity, and support various student populations while adhering to confidentiality regulations ( HIPAA , FERPA ).

Minimum Qualifications
Terminal degree in a field by an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Previous experience in curriculum or program development
Minimum 8 years of higher education work experience, with 3-5 years of administrative experience in some capacity over time (chair, director, associate dean, etc.).
Must have demonstrated excellence in teaching and college programming experience.
Engagement in interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary scholarship, teaching and/or service.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in an honors college or honors program (minimum of two years).
Familiarity with the National Collegiate Honors Council mission, vision, and overall guiding principles.
Documented success in leading student success programs and initiatives.
Must be an active listener with excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills and effective in dealing with students and industry professionals.
