Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
The Aquatics Coordinator will lead the student staff operating the Lamar University Pool. This role will also conduct and execute recreation programming in the aquatic facility. This role requires comprehensive leadership skills, risk management and facility management, strategic planning and fostering collaborative relationships on campus and in the community.
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for the administration and daily operation of the Lamar University Pool,
including daily safety compliance for the aquatic facility.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises student staff within the Aquatics department,
including but not limited to, conducting lifeguard and water safety instructor
training, conducting routine lifeguard Inservice trainings, assessment of staff, etc.
- Manages inventory for departmental needs, including pool chemicals, cleaning
supplies, patron equipment, etc.
Serve as primary contact for mechanical operation and repair of the pool.
Create and maintain aquatic class offerings for the general student body, including
swimming lessons, lifeguard training, and CPR /First Aid training.
Supervises all site managers for events occurring in the Lamar University Pool.
Collaborates with event scheduling staff within the Division of Student Engagement
for events occurring in the Lamar University Pool.
Assists with non-traditional programming in the Lamar University Pool.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Competencies:
Knowledge of team sport rules for intramural programming.
Knowledge of member management software, Innosoft Fusion preferred.
Knowledge of employee management software, SubItUp preferred.
Ability to market and manage recreation programming.
Ability to execute student and part-time employee hiring paperwork and payroll supervision.
Ability to manage budget for individual program area.
Actively participate in NIRSA network.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 50 pounds and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing, and walking between buildings. Able to spot during weightlifting and strength training.
Job Conditions:
Physically challenging at times. Large indoor facility with some outdoor activities during all seasons. Facility can be loud with many activities occurring simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or related field
Two years’ experience at a college or university in recreation department with aquatic facilities and program management.
Current First Aid, CPR and AED certification.
Demonstrated experience in supervising student staff within facilities management. ·
Demonstrated experience with event supervision within recreation facilities
