Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for aSafety Team Lead. This role provides technical expertise and acts as a as a resource for the plant in the area of occupational safety, industrial hygiene, emergency response and fire protection. The position reports to the Health, Environment and Safety Manager and supervises one Sr. Safety Team Specialist.

The Beaumont Plant is located in Southeast Texas about 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and is about one hour drive east of Houston. Our facility is responsible for the production of methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and methylmercaptoproprionaldehyde (MMP).

This position is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Leading the occupational safety and industrial hygiene program for the Beaumont site

  • Motivate and develop staff personnel to create a productive culture which places HES as a value

  • Manage resource needs for delivering industrial safety objectives

  • Drive EHS audit program to examine compliance with regulations and conformance with corporate standards and other related commitments. Ensure the tracking to closure of corrective and improvement actions taken in response to audit findings. Perform data analysis of the results

  • Manage the site’s incident investigation process by providing qualified investigators and also serve as a lead investigation facilitator or leader for occupational health and safety related unwanted events. Developing preventive measures.

  • Leads corporate initiatives and implementation of health, safety and emergency management programs

  • Track, analyze and manage safety near miss events

  • Oversight and leadership of the facility’s fixed fire protection inspection, testing and maintenance program

  • Serve in a leadership role during emergency response events

  • Manage occupational health, safety training

  • Manage, facilitate and instruct annual fire school training

    Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Safety, Environmental Science or related degree +10 years OR 15+ years in a Leadership capacity experience in safety, health, and industrial hygiene fields

  • Organizational priority-setting skills, attention to detail, follow-through, effective written and verbal communication skills in English

  • EHS functional/technical expertise with strong knowledge of safe work practices, auditing, record keeping, investigation and preparing/delivering training

  • Proficient in Microsoft suites – PowePoint, Word, Excel and Sharepoint

  • Must have the ability to effectively interact with personnel in all disciplines and levels

  • Proven leadership skills with a strong ability to motivate and influence a diverse group of employees

  • Advanced working knowledge of EHS regulations. Ability to draw from experience and knowledge of technical learnings and from peer resources to arrive at professional decisions to recommend to site personnel

  • 10+ years auditing experience

  • CSP certification preferred
