Job Summary/Basic Function

About This Role:

Assists the Associate Athletics Director with coordinating programs to ensure compliance with all University, Southland Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics, with a primary focus on academics for student-athletes. Strict adherence to NCAA , Conference, Texas State University System, and Lamar University rules is required. Violations of these rules may result in disciplinary action, including termination.

What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:

  • Academic Advising and Student-Athlete Support

  • Advise and assist student-athletes in selecting majors, courses, and developing effective

study habits.

  • Monitor students’ degree plans and academic progress; evaluate transcripts and maintain academic records.

  • Monitor class attendance and progress to ensure student success.

  • Academic Eligibility Compliance

  • Ensure academic eligibility compliance with NCAA , Conference, and Lamar University

policies.

  • Compile and maintain documentation for academic eligibility each semester.

  • Assist the Associate Athletics Director in updating academic information in NCAA

Compliance Assistant Software.

  • Recruitment and Admissions Support

  • Assist the Associate Athletics Director and coaches in the process of recruiting

prospective student-athletes.

  • Review transcripts and eligibility requirements for prospective student-athletes.

  • Administrative and Record Maintenance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for student-athletes.

  • Recognize and promote the best interests of student-athletes both academically and

athletically.

Key Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of Banner, NCAA Compliance Assistant, and Navigate preferred.

  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods; may be required to lift moderate amounts of weight (up to 10 lbs.).
