State of Utah - Jobs Correctional Case Manager in BEAVER, Utah
The Inmate Placement Program at the Utah Department of Corrections has a current opening for a Correctional Case Manager *at the Beaver County Jail. If you like making a difference in inmates lives and want to be a positive role model,this opportunity is for you. *Principal Duties The Correctional Case Manager provides offender case management and is responsible for the following: (This is not a staff supervisory position)
- Performing security and custody duties including inmate supervision,cell searches,skin searches,inspections,inmate movement; preparing inmate incident and disciplinary reports.
- Functions as a liaison with other divisions,agencies and institutions.
- Interacts with offenders' families and community members.
- Prepare reports for the Board of Pardons & parole,utilizing O Track.
- Reviewing,investigating,documents and process grievances,complaints,and/or implement disciplinary actions.
- Obtain and execute warrants,conduct searches,raids,and investigations,maintaining proper chain of evidence.
- Conduct Risk Assessments (LSRNR).
- Creates Case Action Plans (CAP) and works with offenders to achieve goals.
- Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws,regulations,and/or agency rules,standards and guidelines,etc.
- Works with Offenders in developing a release plan,such as obtaining employment and housing.
The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has the following:
- Is certified as a Correctional Officer.
- Bachelors degree in behavioral or social sciences.
- Two years of progressively responsible professional experience in corrections,behavioral,social sciences or a related field.
- Knowledge of counseling and guidance principles and techniques.
- Written and spoken knowledge of the English language.
- Knowledge of theories of personality and deviant behavior,delinquency,criminology and corrections.
- Ability to provide professional and functional direction to the counseling and guidance service and to guide lower level correctional counselors in al phases of counseling and guidance.
- Ability to administer assessments,create case action plans and draft reports.
- Knowledge of stratification,sociology of the family,racial and cultural minorities,urban sociology and social problems.
- Knowledge of research techniques and the writing of professional reports.
- Present effective interpretations of programming and operational policies and procedures,verbally and/or in writing.
- Exercises good judgment on the basis of previous training and experience.
- Excellent communication skills,both verbal and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with offenders and institutional staff,administrative personnel and with the personnel of other agencies,e.g.,community-based programs and services.
- Has high standards and a good work ethic.
- Lives in or near Beaver County.
Preferences
- A minimum of 2 completed years as a Correctional Officer,within your current hire period,with UDC,at the time of application,or applicant with at least 2 years of current jail experience.
