Department Summary:

MITRE’s Infrastructure and Networking Innovation Center (L110) is seeking a Division Operations Senior (DOS). The Infrastructure and Networking Innovation Center leads technical excellence in enterprise networking, cellular networking (5G/xG), tactical networking, cloud and containerization, and enterprise IT service management for MITRE’s direct sponsors and for science & technology research internal and external to MITRE. The DOS is a strategic partner for the Managing Director and works collaboratively with the Division Chief Engineer, Department Managers, and MITRE Labs Operations, to successfully execute the L110 strategy and achieve key outcomes across MITRE. The DOS leads efficient and effective execution of operations functions within the division and tracks innovation center engagement.

It is expected that the DOS will also work on a direct project within L110’s work programs at least 50% of their time.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Managing Director to develop and execute the division strategy; the management and execution of L110’s work programs; planning and execution of financial and operational activities

  • Work hand-in-hand with the Managing Director on division, center and sector initiatives

  • Identify collaborative opportunities within and across MITRE Labs and the FFRDCs to develop shared outcomes for greater impact

  • Identify and support opportunities to build an inclusive work environment within L110

  • Lead and coordinate L110’s summer intern program across L110 departments

  • Responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the Division working with Division and Department leadership, as well as PLs and financial managers

  • Work with the Division Admin to serve as the lead for communications, which includes supporting and developing quarterly highlights and Impact Stories

  • As required, the DOS will engage with key partners to help the Managing Director build and manage relationships and shape the work staff in L110 support. The DOL will also recommend engagements and prepare all materials/draft briefings in support of engagement meetings.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Must be U.S. citizen with the ability to get a Secret clearance

  • Two years of project or people leadership experience

  • Experience working with the Federal Government

  • Demonstrated experience in building trusted relationships

  • Clear and articulate written and verbal communications, combined with a technical and business understanding

  • Demonstrated professionalism with senior MITRE and sponsor leadership

  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit

  • Strong understanding of at least one of L110 technical areas including: networking engineering, networking security, cloud and containerization, wireless and satellite communications, IT service management

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with budgeting and staffing

  • Business understanding of FFRDC operations

  • Degree in technical management
