The Corporate Accountant position safely performs position specific responsibilities in line with Olympic Steel's Core Values to ensure an elevated level of productivity, quality and internal customer service while adhering to all relevant company policies and procedures. The Corporate Accountant collaborates closely with the Corporate Controller, the Director of Tax and Risk Management and other accounting staff. This person will support the Corporate Accounting department by assisting with daily reporting, treasury and interfacing functions, the month-end closing process, financial reporting, and quarterly reviews with our external audit team. This person will support the Corporate Tax department by assisting with unclaimed funds and employee benefit plan reporting, sales/use and gross receipts tax returns, and audit requests as needed. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Providing daily consolidated operational and treasury results to management Assisting the Corporate Accounting personnel by preparing and posting month-end journal entries and performing account reconciliations Assisting the Director of Tax and Risk Management by preparing returns, reports, gathering data and performing reconciliations Preparing financial reports to management Providing accurate and timely data to internal and external audit teams Providing technical accounting and tax support to other departments and roles within the organization QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting 0 to 3 years experience in a corporate or public accounting environment Knowledge of US GAAP and tax regulations Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and strong Excel skills Ability to learn and understand multiple ERP and general ledger systems and how to extract, summarize and analyze data Strong analytical, financial statement presentation and writing skills Why Work for Olympic Steel: Olympic Steel offers comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision benefits; paid holidays and vacation; a 401(k) match; tuition reimbursement; and various opportunities to earn cash bonuses.
