Field Calibration Technician

Job Purpose

Field Technician I performs calibration on frequently used single-channel manual and electronic pipettes, service to ensure proper performance, precision, accuracy and reliable results at client's site.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complies with all applicable policies, procedures, and processes within Pipette.com Quality Management System.
  • Performs pipette cleaning, disassembly, verification, and calibration in accordance with established Service Levels.
  • Service and troubleshoot pipettes to ensure conformance to established manufacturer and customer specifications within the expected range.
  • Properly uses Laboratory equipment. Performs weekly balance validation with measurement standards.
  • Uses "Qualer Enterprise Asset Management Software" to perform verification and calibration tasks.
  • Maintains house-keeping and health-safety standards.
  • Manages workload at client's facility and assist with scheduling
  • Meet daily and monthly calibration goals to help sustain and grow service capacity.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum education requirements: High School Diploma.
  • General understanding of basic measurement units, computer and calibration technology.
  • Good vision, communication, and math skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and other information in order to complete calibration procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Professionalism - Approaches others in a polite and tactful manner; Maintains composure and reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration; Follows through on commitments.

  • Be able to identify different items of equipment used for measuring volume
  • Understand the relative accuracies of volume measurements made with different items of equipment;

Know how to use different items of equipment correctly;

Be aware of the different types of pipette;

Be able to select a suitable pipette tip and know how to fit it to the pipette;

Know how to select the volume when using a variable volume pipette;

Know how to check that the balance is level
