Job Description

Inframark is currently seeking a Wastewater Operator or Operator in Training in Belle Chase, LA to join our team. We are looking for candidates with a valid Wastewater Operators license in Louisiana but will consider college graduates with a degree in chemistry, biology, or environmental science as well as candidates with relevant experience.

As a Wastewater Operator with Inframark, you will:

  • Operate wastewater plants, and monitor all equipment and chemicals to ensure effluent water meets applicable standards

  • Operate water pumping mechanisms to regulate the flow and pressure of water during assigned shifts, including:

  • Operate pumps, valves, turbines, and electric motors to transfer, distribute, and regulate the pressure flow of raw and processed water

  • Monitor panel boards and adjust controls to regulate the flow and distribution of water

  • Cut grass, clean tanks, sweep & mop floors, clean equipment, and perform various other duties to maintain the aesthetic appearance of the facility;

  • Collect samples and perform various tests such as pH, D.O., and CL2 residual; analyze results and make process control changes based on these lab results and instructions from their immediate supervisor

  • Enter data into a computer database for record maintenance and to produce periodic and special reports

  • Transfer, handle, mix, and make feed adjustments for various chemicals as needed

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks

Qualifications:

  • Familiar with process control and pertinent lab procedures

  • Louisana Wastewater Operator License and/or Certification Coursework required within one year

  • High school diploma or GED with an advanced study or degree in science field preferred

  • Maintenance experience is helpful

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards.

Physical requirements

This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion, including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force regularly. The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required. The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.
