The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections - State Correctional Institution (SCI) Benner Township is seeking a highly motivated Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist to join our team! DESCRIPTION OF WORK A Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2 for the Department of Corrections oversees and facilitates alcohol and other drug treatment services for the inmate population within both the Outpatient and Therapeutic Community (TC) Programs. You will develop and maintain case history files on each inmate as well as conduct initial assessment interviews, make preliminary recommendations for programming needs, provide one-on-one counseling and support, facilitate group therapy sessions, and monitor and coordinate self-help groups.

For TC Programs, this includes morning and evening meetings, three-phase group meetings per day, a co-occurring group weekly, an Opioid Use Disorder Track Group two times per week, Helping Men in Recovery group weekly, and a weekly phase group meeting. For Outpatient Programs this includes facilitating group sessions two or three times a week per each group. Informal resolution meetings and support team meetings for TC inmates and TC Peer Educators occur as needed. Groups follow the standardized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy curriculum provided by the Department of Corrections.

Responsibilities also include coordinating social services with external agencies, treatment providers, courts, and community resources, in addition to utilizing progressive disciplinary measures to address inmate behavioral deficiencies and addressing requests from general population inmates to enroll in voluntary support meetings. You will also provide in the job training, advice, and guidance to new treatment specialists, students, and volunteers at the direction of the supervisor or manager, as well as attend training and certificate programs to develop and maintain your skills.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1; or Two years of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and a bachelor's degree that includes 18 credits in the behavioral sciences; or One year of para-professional and one year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and certification by the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a "Certified Addictions Counselor"; or One year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and a master's degree with major coursework in addictions science, psychology or social work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in the behavioral sciences.
