Job Overview:
This position is responsible for the L.I.S. functions in the Central Specimen Receiving Area. This includes L.I.S. data entry, creation of barcode labels, entering requisitions, & generating patient & departmental reports. This position also labels & prepares specimens for send out or analysis. This position performs phlebotomy and EKG as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Phlebotomist or EKG Tech required.
Experience: 6 months phlebotomy & EKG experience.

Essential Functions:
Accurately utilizes L.I.S. to enter requisitions, receives specimens and generates barcode labels.
Answers and takes messages for all lab departments as needed.
Assists the technical staff as needed. May include calling panic values,placing blood cultures in Bactec, etc.
Assists via telephone or visit and resolves order entry, LIS, CRT, printer & interface problems which may occur on and off campus.
Covers a pneumonic tube system station in the Core Lab when needed.
Delivers and charts patient reports and various supplies to locations on and off campus.
Demonstrates willingness and flexibility in accepting schedule and assignments.
Examines specimens for suitability for analysis and provides corrective action.
