Job Overview:

The Mental Health Associate will be responsible for the facilitation of activity groups in an inpatient program.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, or related field preferred or a Bachelor's degree with one year of relevant work experience interacting with patients and the community

  • 2 Years work experience in field of Mental Health

  • Current BLS certification or successful completion of required training to attain certification within three months of the start date.

  • Current BLS certification or successful completion of required training to attain certification within three months of the start date.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 9:00 5:00 each day

  • Days to work

  • FT/PD

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains unit safely and facilitates daily activity of the patients

  • Understands information pertinent to assigned patients,

  • Completes personal hygiene for assigned patients,

  • Reports patient complaints, problems and any signs, symptoms or unusual occurrences immediately to the appropriate Registered Nurse,

  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations,

  • Assists with ambulation techniques assistive devices and patient positioning,

  • Assists with nutritional needs of patients: collects specimens and takes and records vital signs

  • Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary staff to maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere to the unit and notifies professional nurses of any information regarding patient s physical and emotional condition

  • Ability to add additional parameters as needed by review of patient history and physical,

  • Assist associates in completion of their duties and functions as a cooperative active member of the health care team

  • Interacts with the patients on the unit to promote the safety and security of all patients and staff and reports to the professional nurses any condition on the unit that jeopardizes the safety and security

  • Maintains accurate and thorough documentation as required,

  • Maintains the rules and regulation of the unit and notifies professional nurses of situations that require immediate attention

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Connects patients to telemetry monitors

  • Perform phlebotomy services

  • Stocks supplies

  • Demonstrates knowledge of codes and responds as appropriate
