Amazon Policy & Audit Manager, Regulatory Compliance in Bellevue, Washington

We are looking for a Compliance Systems Policy and Audit Manager to join the Regulatory Compliance team within the Dangerous Goods and Storage Compliance program, based in our headquarters in Seattle, WA. This role supports the integration of worldwide hazardous materials (hazmat) regulations into Amazon's regulatory modeling and technical systems.

This is a unique opportunity to ensure Amazon's fulfillment systems make compliance-aware decisions across every step of operations, including selection, placement, shipping, packaging, labeling, speed, returns, and removals. The key responsibilities for this role include researching and interpreting hazmat regulations, and writing technical policies in tools that enable safe and compliant storage and transportation of regulated products.

The Compliance Systems Policy and Audit Manager will work closely with the Worldwide Dangerous Goods Operations, Hazardous Goods Storage, Legal, Internal Audit, and technology teams to provide feedback and improve the efficiency and usability of Amazon's compliance tools. They will be responsible for designing, testing, and deploying business rules in technical systems to support worldwide business teams with new product and marketplace launches, new program launches, and ensure close compliance gaps.

Additionally, the role will involve conducting feasibility studies with cross-functional teams to achieve desired business objectives related to hazmat compliance and policy implementation. This role will also require defining the audit framework for business rules with technical and program teams to enable timely identification and resolution of compliance gaps. The ideal candidate should be comfortable understanding technical system workflows and dependencies, and have good document writing skills. Experience in hazardous materials compliance, operations, or regulatory affairs, system configurations, auditing, project planning, and implementation is preferred.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Experience handling confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience

  • Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials

  • Experience with SQL and Excel

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
