As a Software Development Engineer at Amazon, your code is held to a high-standard and you are expected to stay up-to-date on the latest technologies.

In this role, you will be responsible for building and managing the AWS Well-Architected tool and delivering features from the ground up, relating to how we provide customers with actionable feedback for improving their cloud architectures. This involves designing new features, continually improving existing ones, and writing highly scalable and reliable code to do so. Operational excellence is a high priority for us, so evangelizing technical improvements and bug fixes along with new features helps us continue to evolve the product easily over time. You will be joining a relatively new team with high potential for growth. This is also a pivotal time for the tool with great upward potential for improving customer usage of cloud technologies and building some really cool, meaningful features for our customers.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
