The Boost Electron team is part of the Data Center Operating Systems team within the AWS Infrastructure Services organization and is responsible for automating and optimizing processes within AWS data centers. We provide a platform to define, maintain, and automate workflows for various processes, as well as create, prepare, and manage work requests for all data center operations. Our primary goal is to minimize AWS unsellable capacity while ensuring the security of AWS customers' data and the safety of operational personnel. We achieve this by actively collecting feedback from our customers, capturing metrics to assess the quality of our automation, and taking actions based on the insights gathered.

The Boost Electron team is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer who is excited about building the next generation of Data Center automation systems. As a Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture and implementation of highly scalable distributed systems that provide availability, scalability, and latency guarantees. In addition, you will be expected to raise the standards of the organization by mentoring junior engineers, interviewing them, and up-leveling the coding standards. You will work on highly visible programs across multiple organizations where you will have the opportunity to have a significant impact.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
