Amazon SysDev Engineer, macOS Management, Kuiper Enterprise Technology in Bellevue, Washington

Amazon’s Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Join the Kuiper Devices & Systems (KDS) team as a System Development Engineer specializing in macOS management. This role is a unique opportunity to build the framework for managing macOS devices within Amazon Kuiper. You will collaborate with a talented team to design, implement, and scale solutions that ensure secure, compliant, and productive macOS systems. Your work will directly impact supporting Kuiper’s global mission to bridge the digital divide with innovative satellite technologies.

Key job responsibilities

  • Platform Ownership: Develop and implement a robust framework for managing macOS devices, including configuration management, security baselines, and compliance reporting.

  • Integration with Entra ID: Ensure seamless integration of macOS devices with Microsoft Entra ID, focusing on secure authentication, single sign-on (SSO), and device compliance policies.

  • Automation and Tooling: Create and maintain automation scripts and tools to improve macOS provisioning, patching, and lifecycle management processes.

  • Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security and compliance teams to enforce policies such as FIPS, NIST, and STIG guidelines.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with Identity & Access Management (IAM), Security, and Networking teams to align macOS management strategies with broader enterprise initiatives.

  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex macOS-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime for end users.

  • Documentation: Develop detailed documentation for macOS management processes, standards, and troubleshooting guides.

A day in the life

In this role, you will develop automation scripts for macOS provisioning, collaborate with cross-functional teams to align security policies, and integrate macOS devices with Microsoft Entra ID. Daily activities include configuring MDM solutions, troubleshooting macOS-related issues, enforcing compliance with enterprise security standards, and documenting processes for future scalability. You'll work closely with security and networking teams, design scalable solutions, and ensure seamless authentication and device compliance. This role involves hands-on scripting, proactive problem-solving, and ensuring that macOS systems are efficient, secure, and aligned with organizational goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience

  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)

  • Proficiency in macOS management, including experience with MDM solutions (e.g., Jamf, Kandji, or Mosyle).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java

  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
