Midwest Goods Inc. Shipping Lead in Bensenville, Illinois

Location : Bensenville, IL (On-site)

Schedule : Monday to Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm or 10:00am to 7:00pm *based on availability of schedule

Status : Full-Time

Compensation : Starting at $45K annually

$300 Sign-on Bonus After Completion of the 90-day Probationary Period

The Shipping Lead assists the Shipping Supervisor in handling the daily operations of the shipping department. This individual will support the Shipping Supervisor to ensure all outbound shipping meets standards and timelines requirements. He or she will maintain high levels of accuracy in day-to-day operations, lead shipping associates, and coordinators.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists the Shipping Supervisor in providing guidance and on-going training to all shipping associates and coordinators; identifies and discusses mistakes with associates to provide the opportunity for associates’ continuous improvement.

  • Maintain ongoing training of all associates.

  • Leads all Shipping associates and coordinators and closely monitors their work to ensure orders are fulfilled correctly in a timely manner; directs and constantly monitors the flow/progress of packages from preparation to shipment;

  • Upon receipt of order/ picklist from the supervisor, prioritizes and distributes orders/ picklist to shipping associates to ensure timely fulfillment of customers’ orders.

  • Regularly observes shipping associates and coordinators ensure they consistently follow all established department and company’s policies and procedures.

  • Assists the Supervisor in ensuring productivity targets are achieved and that all processes and activities are running smoothly and promptly.

  • Motivates shipping associates/coordinators and encourages teamwork, pride, and accountability to ensure productivity targets are met with a high level of accuracy.

  • Assists Shipping supervisor in resolving any shipping fulfillment issues or customer complaints. Holds daily meetings with assoc iates prior to shift start.

  • Verifies, orders, and maintains appropriate supplies for the Shipping department.

  • Generates and disseminates hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly production reports.

  • Collaborates with internal and external departments on any shipping-related issues, paperwork; handles any necessary administrative tasks per supervisor’s direction.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Track and Ship

  • Report Discrepancies to Supervisor/Manager and assist in rectification.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in a warehouse environment where the noise level can be loud. The employee is frequently exposed to fast-moving carts and bins throughout the warehouse. Frequent use of ladders, pallets, and forklifts is also expected.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    This job will lead a group of twenty to thirty-five shipping associates/coordinators.

    Work Environment:

    This job operates in a warehouse environment where the noise level can be loud. The employee is frequently exposed to fast-moving carts and bins throughout the warehouse. Frequent use of ladders, pallets, and forklifts is also expected.

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing ladders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    Required Education and Experience:

    A minimum of HS Diploma or GED and one year of warehouse-related experience in shipping. Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, and use simple math. Intermediate computer skills and Microsoft Office experience including knowledge of Excel, Pivot Table, and VLOOKUP.

    Work Authorization

    Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
